St Francis Xavier Church in Missoula, Montana

The St. Francis Xavier Church in the Downtown district of Missoula, Montana has paintings well over 100 years old, which were done by a brother of the Society of Jesus, a kitchen helper, who painted them in his spare time.  His name was Father Diomedi. I really enjoyed his wonderful depictions of the life and teachings of Jesus.

Is that a sundial?

I didn't think about it being a sundial when we were looking at it but now it does look like one. We were focused on the 3 circles - one with a cross, one with a muslim symbol, and the other with a Star of David.

I loved all these pictures but the holds so much meaning. It shows Christ lifting a child onto his lap. Below the cloud are wretched souls and just off center at the bottom of the picture is a millstone.
